What Is (Are) Your Weakness (Weaknesses)? - Interview Answers

There’s a saying –

“However small the thorn maybe it has the ability to pierce.”

Never say you are a Workaholic, a Perfectionist, etc. because it sounds negative. Try to convert these negative biased qualities into positive ones.

For Example,

In place of Workaholic you can say you are a hard worker and always willing to work for extra hours.

In place of Perfectionist, you can say you are detail oriented and like to set high standard for work.

“Try to specify your weakness as your strength and also highlight it as a benefit.”

Your answers can be:

1) One of my weaknesses as I perceive is occasional compromise on time for quality and perfection.

2) I feel I am not very detail-oriented. I’m a person that wants accomplish as much as possible. I realized this hurts quality and therefore I‘m trying hard to find a balance between quality and quantity.

3) At times even when I need help, I try to solve my own problems instead of asking a co-worker who might know the answer. This would save me more time and I would be more efficient. I’m working on knowing when it would be beneficial to ask for help.

4) I've been told a few times I'm too much detail oriented. I do make it a practice of checking my work at least once or twice to make sure that it's absolutely accurate.

5) I believe one of my weaknesses is my impatience. Whenever I work in a team and any of the team members don’t perform up to the expectation, I get impatient and annoyed. I understand if they are working hard and if their portion is difficult, but sometimes a person can’t do the assignment due to incompetence and laziness. I know I can help out by explaining things to some people and encouraging lazy people by reminding them of deadlines. I know it’s bad to be impatient, but I’m definitely working on it.

Q: BASED ON WHICH WEAKNESS SHOULD WE REJECT YOU?

Since I have identified my own weaknesses, you may be assured that I am constantly working on them to get them reduced day by day. And i am confident in the near future most of my weaknesses may not be there at all. So I strongly believe that you shouldn't reject me for any of my weakness.

  7. hi dear i liked your answer to first question but to this question am not really satisfied bcoz you need to know which industry you are going in and what are the employers wanting to know from the candidate by asking these type of questions. According to me you should present your weakness in such a way that at the end of the sentence its presented as a strength for you . For instance I at times become nervous - but again i think its a driving force in me that keeps me on my toe and gets the work done efficiently - in a proper way. REMEMBER WHATEVER YOU SAY TO OTHERS - THEY DEFINATELY MAKE A IMPRESSION OF YOU OUT OF IT.......

  8. Present a "weakness as strength" to any HR manager or interviewer worth their salt and they will reject it, leaving you with nothing to say.

Try getting the job then. Everyone has development needs, admit them, and say you're solving them.

  15. u r doing a good job..
i strongly feel that one shud be enough tactful to present their weakness as a strenth coz the interview will catch u for the prepared answer..
also ,it is far better to give any standard anwer to the interviewer instead of actually showing ur self weak..

  17. hey this is a great blog, and thanks :)
i would like to point out just one thing though. i have found after you tell tehm about your weakness, its best to let them know how you are improving on it. say u tell teh employee that you are impatient, also let them know that you are trying to overcome this weakness by reminding ur team member about deadlines and to finish his/her share of the work, if they still are not able to do it, then i take on their share of the responsibility and finish the task my self, without it adversely affecting my schedule.

this is a wonderful site, thanks soo mmuch and i hope it comes helpful to everyone who reads it.
    thank you so much

  29. Don’t Lie When Interviewer Asks a Question About Your Weakness!

Don’t lie as there is no need to, unless your weaknesses include bitching about your colleagues and manager or getting drunk with a bunch of hippies, clicking a photo, and posting it on facebook every weekend or worse. For others, every organization offers training programs, and they are meant to bring a positive behavioral and technical advancements in the employees as per their individual needs and concerns.
